easy come, easy go = باد آورده رو باد میبره ، چیزی که ساده به دست بیاد ساده هم از دست میره

easier said than done = حرف زدن آسونه ، اما عمل کردن سخته

 

- to be easier to talk about than to do

 I would  to change jobs but it is easier said than done.

 

early on = اولیه ، اوایل

 

- at an early stage

 We had a meeting early on to try and solve the problem.

 

early bird = سحر خیز

 

- a person who gets up early or arrives early for something

 My sister is an early bird and gets up very early every morning.

 

 

earful = گوشزد کردن

 

- a scolding, much talking in the form of complaints

 The man gave his daughter an earful when she came home late.

 

 

eagle eye = چهارچشمی ، به دقت

 

- an eye with sharp visual powers

 The woman watched her young child with an eagle eye.

 

 

eager beaver = یک نفر که همیشه مشتاق کار سخت یا کار اضافی هست

 My colleague is an eager beaver and is always ready to work hard when we need him.

 

 

dying to (do something or go somewhere) = میمیرم واسه ، کسی یا چیزی

 I am dying to go and visit my friend in the country.

 

 

dyed-in-the-wool = سمج ، سیریش

 

- permanent, stubborn

 The man is a dyed-in-the-wool conservative and will never change.

 

 

Dutch uncle = کسی که مثل خانواده ، نصیحت و راهنمایی میکنه

 

- someone who gives you advice  a parent or relative would

 My friend is  a Dutch uncle and he is always giving me advice about how I should act.

 

dumb bunny = ادم احمق ساده لوح

 

- a stupid gullible person

 He is a dumb bunny and you never know what he will do next.

 

 

dry out = خشک شدن تدریجی ، خشک شدن

 

- to lose moisture gradually

 The beach towel dried out quickly.

 

 

 

drop everything = دست از کار کشیدن

Drop dead! = برو بابا ،مزاحم نشو

- to receive criticism for something = مورد انتقاد قرار گرفتن

 

The government began to draw fire when they announced changes to the health care system.

 

draw blood = عصبی کردن کسی

 

- to make a wound that bleeds, to anger someone

 The politician was very careful not to draw blood during the debate.

 

 

draw a blank = نتیجه گرفتن ، نتیجه منفی گرفتن

drag on = کش دادن ، طول کشیدن

down at the heels = لباس نخ نما داشتن ،ژنده پوش

done with (something) = تموم شدن کار با چیزی

done for = شکست خوردن ، مردن

doll (oneself) up or doll up (oneself) = عروسک شدن ، قرتی شدن

dog-eat-dog = خودخواهی ، بی رحمی با دیگران برای نفع خودمون

 

- to be ready or willing to fight and hurt others to get what you want

dog and pony show = معادل فارسی ، بازی سگ و گربه ، نمایشی که برای جلب افکار عمومی به کار بره

 

- a display or demonstration used to gain approval for something

 The politician put on a dog and pony show to make people forget about the scandal.

 

 

do wonders = نتیجه عالیی به همراه داشتن

 

- to produce excellent results

 Doing some exercise will do wonders for your health.

 

do time = حبس کشیدن تو زندون

 

- to spend time in prison

 The man was doing time when we first heard about him.

 

do the trick = کاری رو خوب انجام دادن و به نتیجه خوب رسیدن

 

- to work well, to achieve a good or desired result

 I think that the new piece of equipment should do the trick and solve our problem.

 

 

do the honors = مرام گذاشتن ، مهمون کردن به نوشیدنی یا ...

 

- to perform the duty of a host (when serving a drink etc.)

 "Would you  to do the honors and pour everybody a drink?"
